"Shiran is a Force of Nature. At board meetings, conventions, mixers, online, or in the edit bay, her ability to support the membership is unwavering. I've lost count of the amount of times I've seen her stand up for members (even those I know she disagrees with) because she wants to ensure that all our voices are heard. Especially in these difficult times for our industry, this is the type of union leadership and vision we need. For these reasons and more I'm honored to endorse her for MPEG Vice President. "
- Brian Chandler, Picture Editor , 2025 elections

"I have volunteered with Shiran for over 5 years, starting first with the Young Workers Group where I’ve gotten to know her as a persistent, tenacious, and empathetic person. She encourages people and builds up their strengths sometimes before they themselves even know it. She is an asset to the guild and finds creative and inspiring ways to achieve her goals. Hell just look at that $40,000 donation to seed our hardship fund! We would be more than lucky to have her as our Vice President. We need someone with heart and fight in these current times more than ever."
Ashley McKinney, Assistant Editor, Board Member, 2025 Elections

"I was a fan of Shiran’s voice on the BOD well before I had the honor of working with her in union activities. She is always in the forefront of being a true voice for our members. In the last couple of years, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing her in action as a fellow delegate at the 80th annual IATSE District 2 convention, leading a work group to eventually create recurring craft-specific union meetings and in a group advocating for a a future digital communication platform for our guild. In all of those situations, she has been laser focused on fighting for the needs of our membership as well as having a clear vision of how we become better as a union. I enthusiastically endorse Shiran Millar, ACE for the Local 700 BOD position of Vice President!"
- Justin Bourret, ACE, Picture Editor, Former Board Member, 2025 elections

"Shiran has accomplished so much on the Board of Directors. She truly cares about the members. I can't think of anyone better for the role of vice president."
- John Axelrad, ACE, Picture Editor, Former Board Member , 2025 elections

"Shiran is, hands down, the most impactful board member of the last decade. No one has been more innovative or persistent. No one. The sheer volume of things she's accomplished for the members is staggering and we have an opportunity here to elevate her to even greater heights for all of us. She was nominated for FOUR positions on the board in total, including President. If it were up to me, she would have accepted the nomination for President because she’s truly THAT impressive, but it honestly just speaks to her humility that she felt VP was the right role at this point in time, so that's where we need to check the box. Let’s get this done, people."
- Jason Brotman, Assistant Editor, Former Board Member , 2025 elections

"Shiran is the leader we need. Not only because of her diligence, kindness, and ambition, but because of a proven track record of involvement, policy shaping, work ethic, and dedication to our union body. Her actions speak volumes."
Leah Breuer, Picture Editor, 2025 elections

"For VP, I proudly endorse, Shiran Miller! She is so dedicated to our union and is always at the forefront of helping others in any way possible. I met her years ago at a mixer when I was trying to break into Assistant Editing and knew no one. You’d think people in the “know” would want to only mingle with others with connections, but not Shiran. She was so wonderful in sharing her wisdom and advice. This year marks my 10yrs of being Assistant Editor, and Shiran played an intricate part in that, and I thank her immensely. In all the FB editing groups, when someone posts about needing healthcare hours, who’s the first to comment to try to help? Yup! She’ll post asking if anyone knows of any openings because someone needs 40hrs etc to keep their healthcare. That’s the kind of person she is. I truly believe she is the heart of this union. For me, there is NO UNION without Shiran Carolyn Miller!"
- George Rincon, Assistant Editor, 2025 Elections

"For me, Shiran is the perfect choice for MPEG Vice President. I can’t imagine anyone else who will fit the role of producing creative solutions to help out our union and it’s fellow members. She’s a genuine and caring person and it truly shows with the groundbreaking work she’s already done within our union. When I lost my home in the Altadena fires, she was instrumental in her guidance to how the union can help and the support she provided to my family as a person. I’m always inspired by everything she does and can’t wait to see how she will positively impact and make our union even better than it is! Go Shiran!"
- Sevan Mardirossian, Assistant Editor, 2025 elections

"Shiran is that perfect mix of progressive ideas and an unbeatable work ethic to make them actually happen. Her track record on the board of executives, founding MPEG Ignite, and as co-chair of the Young Workers Committee speak for themselves so I'll just add this: she would make an excellent Vice President."
— Andy Young, Animation Editor, 2025 elections

"Union events have been more inclusive and exciting since Shiran’s involvement—she doesn’t just do an excellent job listening, she relentlessly advocates, acts, and delivers. She’s an invigorating breath of fresh air that makes me hopeful for the future of the Local 700!"
- Jared Simon, Assistant Editor, 2025 elections

“Shiran has been a ceaseless force in advocating for what’s best for our members. Her work connecting members who needed last minute hours to keep their health insurance spurred improvements to the union website’s job posting section and that is just one of her many contributions! She always has time to answer or help a member in need and she would be a great board representative for picture editors”
— Jacquelyn Le, Editor, 2025 elections

"Shiran is without a doubt one of the hardest working members of our union. She fights daily for tangible change, has spear-headed numerous initiatives that have helped members in desperate need for healthcare hours, and encouraged continued union engagement for young workers. As others have stated, Shiran has done genuinely more for our union in her years as a member than many have achieved having served for decades. Having served on several committees with her, I've seen first hand how huge a force for change Shiran is. She's the real deal. I'll be honored to cast my vote for her as Vice President. "
- Esther Sokolow, Picture Editor, 2025 elections

"Shiran is one of the most dedicated and inspiring people I’ve met in this industry. Her commitment to our union and its members is evident in everything she does, whether she’s in a board meeting, organizing an event, or lending support one-on-one. She listens, she advocates, and she follows through. I’ve seen her stand up for members time and time again, even when the conversations were tough, because she genuinely believes every voice matters. In a moment when our industry is facing real challenges, Shiran brings the clarity, determination, and compassion we need. Her track record speaks for itself: she works tirelessly, she brings people together, and she consistently pushes for progress that benefits all of us. Supporting her for Vice President is an easy decision. I’m proud to endorse her and excited to see what she’ll accomplish next for our union."
— Federico Conforti, Editor, 2025 elections

"Shiran has the vision and will to make stuff happen. It’s pretty easy to see: the hardship fund, the MPI hours alert. These things exist because she pushed for it and got it done. No doubt she’ll continue to do new things to make the union even better for us."
— Cody Miller, Shiran’s Husband, Editor, 2025 elections
-
"I’m not sure I’ve met anyone more capable, qualified or motivated as Shiran. She is ever the advocate for Editors, Assistants and all classifications in the guild. I vehemently endorse Shiran Carolyn Miller."
— Joe DiPadova, Editor, 2022 elections

“I don't know anyone who is as committed not just to the strength of the union, but the strength of its members as Shiran is. Time and time again, she has spearheaded direct, actionable solutions that have improved the lives of my union siblings.”
— Rose Diamond, Assistant Editor, 2022 elections
-
“Shiran is smart, compassionate, and committed to fighting for a more equitable workplace environment for editors. She wants our voices to be heard.”
— Julio C. Perez, ACE, Editor, 2022 elections
-
“I worked with Shiran on the series Chucky. Initially she was my assistant editor, then she became my co-editor for two episodes. I found her to be extremely hard working, dedicated to her work, meticulous with the details and passionate about the show. I am confident she will bring those qualities to her work on the board. I can't think of a better person to represent us.”
— Randy Bricker, Editor, 2022 elections

“There is no MPEG member who better embodies the spirit of our union than Shiran. She makes such an incredible effort to connect our community. She makes every effort to participate in meaningful dialogue through our facebook group, be a mentor for new members, attend MPEG events to meet members in person, and put time and attention into developing her knowledge of labor unions to be a great leader for her sisters and brothers in local 700. I have no doubt that a vote for Shiran is a vote for the future of our union. Every time I miss a meeting, I know that I can count on Shiran to loop me in on what I missed, and every time I see the next one coming up I think about being a fraction as involved as Shiran is.”
— Joe Matoske, ACE, Editor, 2022 elections
-
"Shiran is a valuable asset to the Editors Guild. She participates on the Board and in committees, and she is involved with Guild members on a social level. Shiran is thoughtful and inclusive, and she is driven and determined to improve the conditions for the membership as a whole. I fully endorse her candidacy for one of the Picture Editor Representative positions on the board."
— David White, Assistant Editor, 2022 elections
-
"Shiran is a consummate leader with interpersonal intelligence. A great problem solver at a human level. Care, empathy, duty, community... Those words make me think of Shiran, and I couldn't think of another human being better suited for helping lead the Motion Picture Editor's Guild on the board, by constantly inventing solutions, connecting human beings, and rolling up her sleeves to dig into making positive change a reality."
— Bryan Colvin, Editor, 2022 elections
-
"Shiran is the best thing to happen to this union in years! Her forward thinking and hands-on approach has ushered in some of the most useful tools that help our members not only find union hours and employment, but bolster the ideals that need to be steadfast in the collective bargaining movement. We could do with a hundred Shirans!"
— Rob Kraut, VFX Editor, Board Member, 2022 elections
-
"Witnessing Shiran at union BOD meetings has been inspiring. She consistently speaks about what she feels passionately about even in difficult discussions. What’s especially impressive is she is able to hold on to her passion and her advocacy but she also understands rationality and process. I’ve learned a lot from Shiran and think we definitely need her on the Board again and especially now as we go into another contract cycle. "
— Eileen Finklestein, Editor, 2022 elections
